A True Rescue

Pearce is a sweet 3-year old black lab who is a true rescue. He was rescued by a couple who cleaned him up and tried to find his owners but when they couldn't, they contacted us. As it turns out, it is probably a good thing they didn't find his previous owners!

When Pearce first came to us, he was diagnosed with heartworms. While recuperating from this treatment, the foster noticed that his teeth looked bad. Once the heartworm treatment was completed, he went back to the vet to get his teeth cleaned and checked out. Turns out that he had teeth broken off at the gum line due to being kicked very hard in the mouth or hit with a blunt object so hard that it broke his teeth off. The vet said the damage was definitely caused by abuse. They also removed the remnants of a .22 shell from his shoulder.

His teeth are all fixed up now and the bullet is gone. Despite being kicked, beat and shot, this is the most trusting and loving Lab you will ever meet. He is living, walking proof of the forgiving and loving nature of dogs. Even though the humans in his past have caused him so much pain, he wants only to love and please. He has now found the loving forever family he deserves on a 165-acre farm in Oklahoma, which also has two ponds, another dog and a boy to call his own.
